The project required the existing elementary school to remain fully operational while a portion of the existing school was torn down, and an addition was built. Through an intelligent and proactive approach to schedule and trades, Polestar CM Inc. completed the project on time and on budget.
The project consisted of a new addition and renovation of an existing portion of the mine facility. Work was planned and sequenced to keep the facility fully operational during construction of the project. To address concerns of mine staff and management, a brand new locker system was designed and implemented. This system has subsequently been emulated in other dry facilities.
Built in the 1950’s for heavy industrial use, the Copper Cliff refinery presented a unique set of challenges to the design and construction team. Through the use of creative thinking and sound construction methodologies, Polestar was able to take a bold new approach to engineering office space within the Vale community and far exceed branding expectations. Existing facility maintained full operation through a phased construction approach.
This project consisted of the addition of a two-storey modular office complex at Vale’s Coleman Mine to the existing office facilities. Coordination, scheduling, and sequencing was critical, as operations were maintained at full scale during the entire duration of the project.
