Polestar CM Inc. was the construction manager for the new 2-storey, 16 378sf Samaritan Centre located on Elgin Street, Downtown Sudbury. The Samaritan Centre is a joint and communal undertaking by La Clinique du Coin/The Corner Clinic, The Overcomer’s Group of Sudbury, The Catholic Charities Soup Kitchen, and The Elgin Street Mission. These groups have decided to “come together under one roof”, to deliver a vital and critical community social service downtown. The project contained the following spaces and services; two full commercial grade kitchens, washroom and shower facilities for the homeless, offices, meeting rooms, laundry facilities, and activity spaces.
Extensive renovations have been designed as a phased project approach to the existing two(2) story building structure. Detailed phasing and demolition plans were developed to document construction activities within the existing building during operation. These plans articulated existing construction assemblies and extent of removal. All work was planned and executed to keep facilities operational throughout the project life-cycle. Redevelopment of the dealership included the following program areas: Showroom, Administrative Offices, Parts Storage and Service Bays.
This project consisted of the addition of a two-storey modular office complex at Vale’s Coleman Mine to the existing office facilities. Coordination, scheduling, and sequencing was critical, as operations were maintained at full scale during the entire duration of the project.
